Gravity’s companion short, Aningaaq, is here

Gravity is that rare movie that comes once in a while, that educates and entertains you like no other. If you have seen the movie, you will remember that heartbreaking scene where Sandra Bullock’s character, stranded in space, desperately grabbles for help at the radio. Instead of the usual Houston, she gets an Iniut fisherman who doesn’t comprehend what she’s saying.
The two converse in there own way, and all thoroughout this sequence, the camera never leaves Sandra Bullock. What we are treated to are just the voices of the fisherman and his pet dog. Not anymore.
Director Alfonso Cuaron’s son, Jonas Cuaron, has now released a companion short that shows the other side of the story. I won’t spoil it for you here, but just say that it is bleak, beautiful and deeply moving. Watch it here.
